For many trans women, breast augmentation is a large part of their journey through transition, allowing them to have a chest that reflects their unique definition of femininity. For Cole, a 28-year-old transgender woman, breast augmentation is “the last page in the chapter of affirming and authenticating” her body. After six months of research, Cole chose Dr. Barrett to perform her breast augmentation based on his attention to detail and transparency throughout the whole process.
Procedure Details
Dr. Barrett carefully performed a periareolar incision around the areola, creating a pocket for the implant. Each pocket was irrigated three times with a triple antibiotic solution ot help reduce the risk of capsular contracture. The implant was placed in the pocket using a Keller fuller, under the chest muscle. Cole was then sat up to ensure the implant fit her anatomy perfectly. Incisions were then closed using a five-layer closure technique to minimize tension and decrease inflammation, ensuring minimal scarring and optimal healing. After just a few days of recovery, Cole was back to her regular activities with a body that perfectly fit her gender identity.
