Patient POV: A New Chapter in My Confidence. My Breast Augmentation Story with Dr. Daniel Barrett

I am very happy to report that it’s been a year since my surgery and the girls are fully healed!! Truth be told, deciding to correct a previous breast augmentation was a decision filled with many, many mixed emotions; however, from my very first consultation with Dr. Barrett, I instantly felt at ease. In this post, I want to share the exciting, transformative experience I had under Dr. Barrett’s care, diving into surgery and the impressive recovery process.
From the initial consultation, Dr. Barrett and his team always welcomed me into the office with open arms. Their approach was not just about aesthetics but also about my overall well-being, something I definitely was not used to in Los Angeles. A little back story from my previous breast augmentation — I had them done when I was 20, making them over 10 years old. I had very apparent rippling, they were hard as rocks and they never fully dropped into the shape I wanted. I had a lot of questions prior to surgery with Dr. Barrett, but he always made sure that I felt comfortable and involved in the entire process. I have to say, the entire Barrett Plastic Surgery office was SO pleasant and the personalized care and detailed explanations at every step made me feel extremely valued and heard.
Reflecting on Growth
I think one of the biggest things going through with this surgery taught me was that the journey with Dr. Barrett wasn’t just a physical transformation, but also was about reclaiming my body and my self-esteem. Prior to surgery, I never felt confident in a bikini, let alone an anything low cut due to the rippling; and I always felt extremely uncomfortable in my own skin. I don’t think I had fully realized how much it was affecting me til now when I’ve FINALLY been able to wear things I’ve been so desperate to and to finally feel confident on a beach and in bed (tbh).
Minimal Scarring + Softness!!!
One of the most exciting parts of this procedure has been the lack of scarring and how incredibly real they feel. I have a very small incision scar that is practically unnoticeable and I am so proud to say… they move like real breasts!!! I never thought I would be so excited to just be walking down the street and feeling them move up and down. I also had severe internal scarring from the previous surgery, so Dr. Barrett did a pocket repair and scar removal on both breasts making the implant finally sit properly inside my chest. Dr. Barrett’s meticulous technique and precision really shined in this part of my journey and I could practically cry of happiness.

Recovery is usually the most annoying part of any surgery, but my experience post-operation was incredibly smooth, hugely thanks to the comprehensive aftercare plan provided by Dr. Barrett and his team. I was able to move around on my own same day and felt almost fully mobile after about a week. I was not allowed to workout or lift anything over 5lbs for about 10 weeks, but felt comfortable enough to go on small walks and run errands — something I was not able to do before in the previous surgery with the other doctor. Dr. Barrett was always very adamant about how important the recovery process plays in healing, so I always made sure to not overexert myself.
A significant part of my recovery success was also thanks to the post-op supplements recommended by Dr. Barrett.
